TJU Medical Billing and Coding Certificate Program – Cohort 2
Program Description:
The Jefferson Medical Billing and Coding Program prepares graduates to take the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam offered by AAPC and gain entry-level employment as a medical coding professional in a variety of settings. Physician’s practices, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing facilities, and insurance companies are a few examples of employment settings with continuous need for medical coders. Medical billers and coders are essential to ensuring that healthcare providers receive accurate and timely reimbursements for their services, which directly impacts the quality of patient care and the financial health of institutions. With advancements in technology and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), the role of coding professionals is evolving rapidly and requires specialized training. According to the American Medical Association, the U.S. is currently facing a 30% shortage in medical coders, and the shortage is occurring alongside a surge in demand.
