
Energy Coordinating Agency: HVAC Maintenance and Repair Technician
•The Commercial HVAC Maintenance and Repair program is designed to work with complex HVAC systems that are located in schools, hospitals, office and government buildings, Shopping Centers, and various buildings used for recreation. HVAC Maintenance and Repair Technicians have an average salary of $45,000 – $50,000, with full-time, 40 hours guaranteed, and overtime that may be required.
The program is designed to prepare unemployed/underemployed young people, returning citizens, veterans, and older workers looking to re-tool their skills to enter the growing clean energy workforce. ECA offers industry-driven training that includes classroom theory, hands-on training, and field experience.
This course is a partnership with ECA and Johnson Control Institute (JCI) that prepares individuals for entry-level positions as Maintenance and Repair Technicians in commercial buildings. Johnson Controls is the world’s largest manufacturer of residential and commercial HVAC equipment and a leader in smart energy solutions in buildings. The curriculum for this course is the sole property of JCI who trained and certified our instructors to deliver the curriculum.

•Requirements: 6th grade reading and math, carry 50 lbs., climb a ladder, work in confined spaces
•Skills Learned: plumbing, electrical, electronics, duct cleaning, use of hand and power tools
•Credentials: OSHA 10, EPA RRP Lead Safe, EPA 608 refrigerant recovery, ESCO HVAC Excellence, ESCO Plumbing
•Internships, Externships, or Work Experience: Students will be meeting employers throughout the program. A pool of up to 5 employer partners will agree to interview students who complete the program.
